Clan Reaction: Bergin and Jones in Buoyant Mood Ahead of Playoff Weekend Following Panthers Victory

By Stewart Ross

Kevin Bergin believes Braehead Clan have what it takes to win the Playoffs following their Quarter Final demolition of former winner’s Nottingham Panthers.

Clan’s 9-1 aggregate win over the Panthers books their place in the final four in Nottingham this weekend where they will play either Sheffield Steelers or Coventry Blaze in a semi final on Saturday before a potential final on the Sunday.

Despite it being the clubs first ever trip to a Playoff Final weekend confidence was high in the aftermath of their 5-1 second leg success. Speaking on what they could achieve in Nottingham after that Quarter Final win, Clan Forward and assistant coach Bergin was adamant they would be going there to win:

We’re on a roll right now so we’ll try and keep it rolling for two more games We’re going to win it, we got a good thing going.

Clan netminder Kyle Jones also feels that the confidence boost from their Quarter Final win gives them a great chance this weekend:

Its one game against one team and one game against another team, anything can happen Any team can beat any team on any given night you never know whats gonna happen, we’ve just got to go in with that confidence of the past two games.

Jones also commented on the controversial moment an illegal equipment penalty was called in the second period of Saturday night’s game for the width of his stick:

They obviously knew it was a little bit wider than it should have been, I had no idea it was just one of the sticks I was given this year. It was a good call by them but luckily for us we killed that five on three.
